The Evaluation & Management of Eating Disorders in Adolescents (On Demand-CE)
This on demand webinar explores key aspects of diagnosing and managing eating disorders in adolescents and young adults, a population whose care presents unique challenges for health care providers. The presentation covers diagnostic criteria for various types of eating disorders, including differential diagnoses. Special attention is given to how personal identities and biases can impact clinical assessments. The presentation also addresses the psychiatric and physical manifestations of malnutrition, exploring how these can vary and complicate diagnosis and treatment.

Audience
Medical professionals such as pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, and mental health specialists who work with adolescents and young adults. Learning Objectives
- Identify and analyze the role of personal and systemic biases in the screening and diagnosis of eating disorders, considering how identities (e.g., gender, race, and socioeconomic status) impact assessment and treatment.
- Differentiate between the various types of eating disorders using diagnostic criteria and apply case-based scenarios to enhance clinical decision-making.
- Recognize the psychiatric and physical manifestations of malnutrition in individuals with eating disorders and apply this knowledge to improve treatment planning and outcomes.
